ASSOCIATIONS
Associations provide a secondary way to browse Extremes and Moderations, connecting writers across historical periods through publications, institutions, literary circles, political formations, aesthetic movements, diasporic networks, and intellectual currents. While each volume occupies one primary place in the Catalogue, it may participate in many different Associations.

Black newspapers, schools, clubs, churches, civil-rights organizations, and arts groups gave these poets platforms for writing while they helped build the city’s public cultural life.
