Curtis, Louis F. — Story and Song

June 10, 1852–August 27, 1928

Louis Foulk Curtis was a teacher, school administrator, religious writer, and late-blooming poet whose 1905 Story and Song ranges far beyond its modest title. Its long narratives travel through Norse legend, Christian history, romance, moral allegory, and remembered California, while its shorter lyrics keep returning to education, faith, family, and public duty. Contemporary reviewers compared Curtis to Tennyson and treated the book as the culmination of a life already spent in classrooms and civic work. This edition resets the complete volume from the public-domain scan and restores its sequence of stories, songs, and internal divisions.
