Arthur Franklin Fuller — Collected Poems
Arthur Franklin Fuller was a Chicago choirboy, organist, composer, itinerant performer, self-publisher, and disabled worker who made literature into a portable livelihood. After illness left him unable to sit, stand, or walk, he traveled in a wheeled cot, performed piano and song while lying down, and sold inexpensive books directly to the public. His poetry ranges from devotional and love lyrics to humorous narratives, wartime verse, California booster poems, and meditations on art; his autobiographical prose became an important witness to the policing of disabled people in public space. This edition gathers the complete poetry that can presently be recovered from his surviving books, using the most fully revised text for ordinary republications and recording earlier appearances and significant variants after each poem.
